Alastair (Al) Doherty

Alastair’s areas of expertise are software design and development. He worked on converting some of the key Agricultural Production Simulator (APSim) crop modules to the new APSim Plant Modelling Framework (PMF), so that they can be more easily coupled to detailed photosynthesis models.

Once the photosynthesis models are connected to APSim we will be able to estimate the effects of changing photosynthetic mechanisms on crop growth and development.

He has worked for over 10 years developing functional crop models within the APSim framework, shire scale commodity forecasting models and have worked extensively designing and developing online decisions support tools for a variety of end users.

Alastair holds a Master of Computer Technology (Web Technology and Software Engineering) from the University of Southern Queensland (2012)

Al was part of the Centre from 2014 to 2019
