Michael (Mun Hon) Cheah
Dr Cheah’s research focus included: Photosynthesis – the mechanism of water oxidation by Photosystem II, artificial photosynthesis – design and study of reaction mechanism of artificial catalysts used in solar fuel production and the mechanism of photoinactivation of Photosystem II.
Michael obtained a BSc (Honours) in Chemistry in 2003 from Melbourne University and a PhD in Chemistry in 2008 from Melbourne University.
His key areas of expertise include:
18O isotope fractionation by Photosystem II
X-ray absorption spectroscopy – EXAFS, XANES
Spectroelectrochemistry (IR and X-ray)
Modelling of chemical reactions by quantum chemistry (DFT)
Michael was part of the Centre from 2016 to 2018
