Veena Sahajwalla
Professor Sahajwalla was the Founding Director of the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology at the University of New South Wales. A lead innovator in the field of sustainable materials use and recycling of waste plastics, she has held an ARC Future Fellowship and an ARC Georgina Sweet Laureate Fellow. Professor Sahajwalla is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2015 Australian Financial Review and Westpac 100 Women of Influence Award and Engineering Australia’s Top 100 Most Influential Engineers Award. Professor Sahajwalla is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering and Engineers Australia. Professor Sahajwalla contributed to the formation of government policy and public debate and leads ‘Science 50:50’, a program designed to inspire and encourage women to pursue careers in science and technology.
